After teasing fans all over the world with a brief, unsatisfying preview, Avenged Sevenfold have today released the title track from their forthcoming opus Hail To The King in its entirety. The riff-fest comes with some black and white in-studio visuals and you can check it all out below.
The track sees M. Shadows conquer some of his most James Hetfield-esque vocals we’ve seen yet cascading over the trademark shred-tracular guitar work of both Synyster Gates and Zacky Vengeance. Just as you’d expect from the maiden single off the album, Hail To The King has a big, melodic chorus that’s super simple, but oh so catchy. The band’s vocalist had earlier suggested that the record took on a more classic rock vibe and Hail To The King goes along nicely with that.
If you pay particular attention you’ll notice the fine handy work of the new kid on the block Arin Ilegay who is now the bands permanent man on the skins. However, the drums – though they are pounding – very much take the back seat. After all, it’s the 4 original members everyone is eager to hear from.
Speaking of which, bassist Johnny Christ spoke to Music Feeds not too long ago about the album, revealing that it was heavily influenced by the sensibilities of 18th-century classical composers. Christ also confirmed the band would be touring Australia some time in 2014.
The album Hail To The King is out Friday, 23rd August.
