Bassist Eric Avery has announced via his twitter page that he will once again be leaving Jane’s Addiction. Upon completing the Soundwave festival tour, he posted: “Thats it. With equal parts regret and relief, the Jane’s Addiction experiment is at an end.”
It seems the rest of the band will go on without him though, with lead singer Perry Farrell posting this message on Facebook not long after:
“Everyone is so excited to get home now and start working on a new record and a show. I wrote a song today, “The Great Escape Artist” and I am going to write at least three more on the way back to LA. All I keep thinking is; ‘This is the beginning of …something that already feels great; I cannot wait.”
Ex-Guns and Roses rocker Duff McKagan will be replacing Avery in the studio as Jane’s begin to record their first album since 2003’s Strays. No word yet as to how long his tenure with the band will be, though with Velvet Revolver on indefinite hiatus and without a record label, he might just be in it for the long haul…
