UPDATE: Avicii’s Cause Of Death Has Reportedly Been Revealed
ORIGINAL STORY: Last week, we woke up to the devastating news that Swedish DJ Avicii (Tim Bergling) had died at age 28.
While the cause of his death is still technically unknown and found not to be suspicious, his family has released a new statement which suggests he may have committed suicide.
“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions,” the statement reads.
“An over-achieving perfectionist who traveled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress. When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music. He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.”
Avicii’s family had released an earlier statement last week, speaking out for the first time since the producer’s death and thanking fans for their support.
Avicii dealt with many health issues throughout his career, including having to undergo surgery in 2014 to remove his gall bladder and appendix due to acute pancreatitis which was caused by heavy drinking.
