Avril Lavigne Signs With Travis Barker’s Label And Teases New Music

It’s a match made in ’00s pop punk heaven, really. Avril Lavigne and Travis Barker?

The two artists have marked a new step in their professional relationship, with Lavigne signing to Barker’s DTA Records. Celebrating the deal with popped champagne bottles and a cake fight, Lavigne and Barker admittedly looked pretty stoked to be working together in getting some new Avril music out into the world.

The Canadian singer’s last album, Head Above Water, came out through BMG back in 2019. Not wasting any time pushing the needle on her new music, Lavigne’s teased her first music release through DTA is coming next week.

“Let’s f*ck sh*t up! Just signed a record contract to Travis Barker’s record label DTA Records!” Lavigne posted to Twitter. “Should I drop my first single next week?”

DTA Records has been Barker’s baby since late 2019, a label imprint launched in partnership with Elektra Records. It’s home to rising acts and Barker collaborators like jxdn and Caspr, so no doubt it’s also going to be acting as a bit of an incubator for more Barker-involved projects to come.

Most recently, Lavigne performer as part of Barker’s House of Horrors special over Halloween weekend; an event which also saw Barker’s Blink-182 bandmate Mark Hoppus perform for the first time since revealing he has beaten cancer.
