Full-time shit-stirrer/part-time rapper Azealia Banks has found herself a new target for her merciless shade throwing this week, and that target is fellow rapper Lizzo. Why? Because Lizzo just hit #1 on the Hot 100 with ‘Truth Hurts’.
Taking to Instagram, Banks unleashed on Lizzo in a completely unwarranted and offensive attack, referring to her as a “dumpy fat girl” and that ‘Truth Hurts’ “is not good.”
The basis of Banks’ argument is that white America is choosing Black artists to champion that they can also make a spectacle of. Following that, she also went in on Cardi B – again – by referring to her as “illiterate” and Lil Nas X, who Banks said is responsible for a “trash ass buckbreak mountain anthem.”
She then said that this is all in response to Beyoncé’s highly political 2016 masterpiece Lemonade, and that “they saw us moving too fast.”
“…If you realize,” Banks wrote, “after Beyoncé became political in ways they didn’t like the elite stopped giving her that top top spot and started cycling out these lessers like Cardi and Lizzo (even Lil Nas X trash ass buckbreak mountain anthem) giving them Beyoncé level accolades while both being no where near the level of black female excellence she is.”
She then said Lizzo is “looks like she is making a fool of her black self for a white American public.”
Finally, Banks set her sights on Adele, saying that “Lizzo gotta jump around and act stupid to get half the attention while she has more talent than white Adele.” She then said that she thinks Adele can’t sing, which is certainly An Opinion.
