Baby Animals Announce 25th Anniversary Tour Dates With Original Lineup

When Baby Animals first burst onto the music scene, Sonic The Hedgehog was the hottest game on Sega MegaDrive, a Point Break Patrick Swayze was the sexiest man alive and a frightening new concept called “the internet” was only just about to become a thing.

But not only did the Suze DeMarchi-fronted Aussie act go eight times platinum with their high-energy, hard rockin’ debut in the face of an angsty Nirvana-era grunge culture, they’ve continued to stay on the radar for a quarter century, with their passion for the touring circuit topped off by the release of their 2013 album, This Is Not The End.

Now, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their iconic debut, Baby Animals’ original lineup is reuniting to perform two massive shows, alongside the band’s current lineup.

You read right – both incarnations of the BA’s will take over Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and Melbourne’s Forum in May of 2016, to perform one set each. The first will be a celebration of the group’s entire catalogue, performed by the current line-up, while the second will feature the original members performing the band’s debut record in full.

Baby Animals’ seminal LP, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart and held the top spot for an insane six weeks, went on to sell over one million copies worldwide, propelled by monster singles like Rush You, One Word, Early Warning and Painless.

“It seems like only yesterday that we were at Sound Level rehearsal studios in Sydney beginning this journey that’s lasted 25 incredible years,” DeMarchi said. “I feel really privileged to be celebrating all the great times with my band mates.”

And that’s not all. Baby Animals are also dropping a brand new album to commemorate the big milestone.

Dubbed BA25, the disc will feature live performances recorded during a concert in Boston, while the band were on tour supporting iconic rifflords Van Halen.

The new record will also include unreleased tracks, B-sides and never-before-heard demos. It’s due for release on May 20th, 2016.
