It’s not every day you can bid on one-of-a-kind backpacks designed and packed full of musical goodness by your favourite artists, but today is that day.
Thanks to Warner Music Australia’s ‘Got Ya Back’ initiative, a stack of internationally renowned acts have come on board to alter some truly unique pieces of merch, in backpack form!
Among the artists to design bags you can win are Coldplay, Charli XCX, Death Cab For Cutie, My Chemical Romance’s Gerard Way, Grouplove, Rob Thomas and Royal Blood.
The auction will raise funds for Australia’s music support charity Support Act, with all proceeds going to those in the music and entertainment industries whose employment has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
Other acts that have gotten involved are A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, August 08, Anne-Marie, Bazzi, Foals, Little Dragon, Rudimental and Why Don’t We.
So what’s up for grabs? Well, each artist has customised their bag with a whole stack of unique goodies. Coldplay have thrown in a signed drumskin, Grouplove have included polaroids and a handwritten journal, while you can also get your sweaty hands on a worn Gerard Way T-Shirt, merch signed by Why Don’t We and Access All Areas (AAA) passes to see Rita Ora.
There 16 bags in total, with each one up for bid on eBay. The auctions kicked off last night ( Thursday, May 7th) and bidding will wrap up at 8pm on Sunday, May 17th. Head here to see what’s up for grabs.
This latest Warner Music Australia campaign follows on from the In Their Shoes campaign from 2014, which saw artists design shoes to auction off for music support charities.
