Baker Boy has definitely been keeping busy of late, hunkering down with multi-instrumentalist and production maestro Pip Norman (Tuka, Troye Sivan) to work on new music. The first we’re hearing of it has landed today, with Baker Boy releasing a newbie: ‘In Control’.
As with previous releases, Baker Boy’s Danzal Baker injects an insatiable vibe of optimism and positive energy into the delivery of his lyrics in both Yolngu and English. The single is about owning your own path and encouraging the listener to embrace inner confidence.
Baker Boy – ‘In Control’
“‘In Control’ encourages not only kids, but everyone to be brave and confident in taking control of their futures.” Baker said in a statement. “No matter what challenges they’re facing or how many times they’ve been knocked back, it’s about having the right mind set and supporting yourself to be the very best version of who you are.”
Working with Norman and the T.I.M.E Crew (Thornbury Instrumental Music Experience) from Thornbury Primary School, ‘In Control’ has an obvious youthfulness to it, but it’s an example of Baker’s maturing flow and sound too.
Baker Boy will be performing at this year’s Reclink Community Cup in Melbourne on Sunday, 23rd June, as well as at the Palmy Street Party up in Darwin on Saturday, July 20th.
