Indie-rockers Ball Park Music are making a name for themselves as masterful live-tweeters of the annual ARIA Awards.
After making headlines last year with their insightful (and clearly drunk) take on the 2016 ARIAs, the band have just backed it up with another play-by-play of Australian music’s night of nights.
At first, it didn’t look Ball Park would make it to tonight’s 2017 ARIA Awards in Sydney, with the band’s Jennifer Boyce taking to Twitter to say…
Very sorry we can’t be at the #ARIAs this year to provide salty online commentary.
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
…but then a miracle happened:
Hey guys, Jen here. Got a last minute ticket to the ARIAs. Can't guarantee salinity of commentary, but wish me luck!
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
And after getting in the car and realising tonight was going to be more measured than last year’s ARIAs…
I had to drive tonight so it's going to be a very different ARIAs from last year. Who's up for some sober tweeting? ✋
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
…Jennifer was in the venue and things kicked off!
Richard Wilko just said "Harry Styles" and the crowd went wild. Tonight is gonna be ?

There were highs…
So last year there was no booze in the room, this year there are boxes of booze next to the rows of chairs. Guess who's at the end of the row? (It's me)
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
Turns out Paul Kelly forgot to tell his friend he got her a ticket for the ARIAs, so I guess I'm Paul Kelly's friend now
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
I like Lorde because she dances like me
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
Sorry about the lack of tweets for the last couple minutes, I just saw Harry Styles in the distance and now I'm speechless
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
Whoa we get a DINNER BREAK! They must have realised how drunk everyone got last year.
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
…and there were real highs:
Rumour has it @DUNERATSS found Scott Green on the red carpet ?
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
Someone has brought out the devil's lettuce for the Amy Shark performance
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
Keep hearing people talking about "devil's dust" ?
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
And there were some lows, too:
Didn't even know they smoked pic.twitter.com/GRHGRWn5Om
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
They've closed one of the toilets. I don't even want to know.
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
Does anyone have a micro USB cable?
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
And a whoooooooooole lot of good advice:
I have three muesli bars in my bag in case anyone needs a snack.
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
Last year I had like 20 drinks and one piece of sushi so this year I am PREPPED
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
*crinkle crinkle crinkle* the sound of someone annoying opening muesli bars in the back row
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
Hot tip for Sydney taxi drivers – hundreds of people at The Star will be trying to get to afterparties before lockout begins
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
But the best bits were definitely Jennifer’s random observations:
??????????
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
Really stoked/surprised there's a shark emoji tbh
— Ball Park Music (@ballparkmusic) November 28, 2017
