The members of Baroness have confirmed that they are safe following a devastating terrorist attack in Brussels that has claimed the lives of up to 34 people and injured around 200 others.
The US alt metal band, due to play in Brussels’ AB Theatre last night, took to Instagram following the attacks to assure fans of their safety, stating they had not yet arrived in the city.
“We are not in Brussels. We don’t know what’s going on, or where we are going to go yet, but we’ll try to keep you up to date, and we’re going to look into playing a show somewhere,” the band writes. “Everyone we know is ok at the moment, and we hope you all are as well. There were a couple bomb attacks in Belgium today, and we’re responding as best we can with the info we have. Stay tuned and everyone please be safe.”
The band’s Brussels show has been cancelled but, to the best of our knowledge, they are set to carry on with their European tour as planned, carrying on with shows in the Netherlands next.
Following bombings at Brussels’ Zaventem airport and Maelbeek metro station, reported to have been carried out by an ISIS-affiliated group, Belgium has raised its terrorism alert to the highest level and declared three days of national mourning.
The ISIS-led attack comes just four months after 130 people were killed by Islamic extremists in Paris, including 89 at the Bataclan Theatre where the Eagles of Death Metal were performing.
