Beck has celebrated his 4th of July a bit differently to most people. The folk icon took to the stage of London’s Barbican where he performed his album Song Reader in full for one of the first times ever, but this time he did it right, being joined by a small crowd of famous musicians who helped him through the whole thing.
The best part is, there doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason behind the guest artists; they’re just a mix of awesome musos. From Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker, to Franz Ferdinand, to singersongwriter Beth Orton, European musical royalty Charlotte Gainsbourg and, of course, The Mighty Boosh. As you can see in the below videos, there are even more more guest artists on the list.
Beck’s tour will continue on, but who knows what will happen next. All we know is we can expect big things from the man who is expanding his catalogue by two full-length albums this year, which will see a new place for latest singles I Won’t Be Long and Defriended to find a home, as well as giving previous record Modern Guilt a companion.
