Harvest fans – is this a morning for you or what?! There’s not one, not two, but THREE sideshow announcements from acts who are appearing at November’s festival.
And the first of these is…Beirut! The Santa Fe indie-rockers will do two dates – in Adelaide and Sydney – giving fans the chance to see their indie-tinged multi-instrumental antics up-close and personal.
Beirut first made waves as the alter ego of multi-instrumentalist Zach Condon. In 2006, he released his stunning debut album Gulag Orkestar to international praise. Following the release of 2007’s The Flying Club Cup (a love letter to France) many asked where his songs would voyage next.
Few predicted the inward journey that Condon took on his 2011 LP The Rip Tide, written in isolation during a snowy upstate winter. The album marks a stark change in emotional direction, while still maintaining the unmistakable aesthetic that has taken Beirut around the world many times, including a third journey to Australia this November.
Joining Condon on stage will be various members of his current live band – Perrin Cloutier, Nick Petree, Paul Collins, Kelly Pratt and Ben Lanz. Tickets for the shows are on sale now.
