Recently a handful of tweets, pics and footage have surfaced on the Internet of The Flaming Lips’ frontman Wayne Coyne and piano extraordinaire Ben Folds collaborating together in a studio on an unnamed piece of music. Though the song title may be a mystery at this stage, the track will eventually appear on the upcoming record from pop performer Ke$ha.
As reported by The Music Network, rumours have been circulating that Ke$ha has been working with some very impressive artists for her sophomore LP, including Iggy Pop, and Patrick Carne from Black Keys, along with the now-confirmed Coyne and Folds.
Exclaim points out that this is not the first collaboration between Coyne and Ke$ha, with the Blah Blah Blah singer appearing on The Flaming Lips’ The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends, which is a collaborative studio album released earlier this year.
The clips below come from Coyne’s Twitter account with one vid capturing Folds as he conducts a string section. The image at the bottom of this article comes from Ben Folds Facebook page, which Folds captioned “another kick ass day, another kick ass studio session”…
There’s no word at present as to when the still-untitled second LP from Ke$ha will be released, though it’s expected sometime this year.
