Ben Gibbard Is Doing Daily Livestreamed Concerts From His Home Studio

Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard has announced he’ll be livestreaming performances from his home studio daily for the next few weeks as coronavirus keeps many of us stuck at home.

“I know you are all freaked out right now,” wrote Gibbard in a letter. “I am, too. And while I’m proud that we’re all doing the necessary things at the moment to help flatten the curve, I know it has left us incredibly isolated.”

Gibbard went on to express gratitude for fans choosing to “congregate en masse” around his music over the past years. “In this crazy unprecedented time, I’d like to return my favor by coming to you.”

“It will assuredly be a little wonky and glitchy but we’re gonna do our best.”

The DCFC songwriter will be going live from today on YouTube and Facebook. The first one starts at 10AM Australian time.

The best part? Gibbard’s accepting requests – so if you’ve ever wanted to hear him bust out that early We Have the Facts… cut or that rarely-played Postal Service gem, now’s your chance.

Gibbard is just one of many artists who have turned to digital options to keep fans entertained throughout the global pandemic. Over the weekend, Code Orange played their record release show in an empty venue, live streaming the performance over Twitch.

Check out the stream from 10AM below, or over at Facebook here if you’d prefer.
