Beyoncé & Thom Yorke Lead Shortlist For ‘Best Original Song’ 2020 Oscar Nominations

The 2020 Academy Awards are fast approaching and why we don’t know exactly who will be nominated for what awards just yet, the shortlist of potential nominees for this year’s ‘Best Original Song’ is here.

As expected, the shortlist features Beyoncé for her original song ‘Spirit’ which was written for the live-action remake of The Lion King, which she also stars in.

Joining her in the shortlist is Thom Yorke, who wrote ‘Daily Battles’ for the film alongside his Atoms For Peace bandmate Flea. Other notable artists include Randy Newman, Pharrell Williams and Elton John – the latter of which is shortlisted for two different songs for two different films (The Lion King and Rocketman).

‘Best Original Song’ has become one of the most anticipated categories of the ceremony, with the globe-dominating success of this year’s winner – Lady Gaga & Bradley Cooper’s ‘Shallow’ – still having impacts on charts everywhere.
