As BIGSOUND festival draws ever closer, the esteemed Brisbane event has finally given us the first lot of notable names who will be appearing – the first round of international speakers and buyers.
Leading the announcement is Terry McBride of Canada’s Nettwerk Music, whose roster includes Father John Misty, Xavier Rudd and Stereophonics. McBride will also be providing a keynote for the event.
“BIGSOUND has been on my to-do list for many years and it’s so exciting to come back to Australia and to check out potential new acts for the Nettwerk Roster,” McBride said in a statement.
“Everybody thinks Nettwerk is an Australian label, after all we have 17 Artists from Australia/New Zealand signed already. The fact is we are lovers of good music and data. When you combine those two things together then you understand the power of music and its ability to create a community that goes beyond physical borders. Australia is a big part of that global community and BIGSOUND is where the world goes to discover Australian music.”
A lot of other huge rosters will be represented at the festival, including Mom + Pop (Courtney Barnett, Tash Sultana), Sub Pop (Fleet Foxes, Nirvana, Foals), Primary Talent International (Catfish & The Bottlemen, DMA’s, Alt-J) and many more.
BIGSOUND 2019 is taking place in Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, between Tuesday, 3rd and Friday, 6th September.
