Billie Eilish season is in full effect as Australia preps to have one of the world’s biggest artists at the moment perform shows far and wide, but for now she has just touched down in New Zealand and received an incredibly touching welcome.
When she landed at the airport, she was greeted by Hātea Kapa Haka, who gave her a traditional welcoming ceremony known as a Pōwhiri.
The group then moved into a te reo Māori version of Eilish’s smash ballad ‘When The Party’s Over’, which left Eilish all but in tears. It’s an incredibly moving performance and one you simply have to watch.
‘When The Party’s Over’ is one of Eilish’s biggest hits to date, charting all the way at #8 on last year’s Triple J’s Hottest 100. It also features on Eilish’s recently released debut album When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
Eilish will be in Australia this weekend for her first of six headlining performances at Groovin The Moo festival, as well as a nationwide headline tour of her own.
