Billy Corgan Hints That He’s Working With Rick Rubin On A Smashing Pumpkins Reunion Album

Billy Corgan has hinted that he’s been working with super-producer Rick Rubin on the long-awaited Smashing Pumpkins reunion record.

Corgan wrote an Instagram post clarifying that he wasn’t “sick” despite a previous picture captioned with, “making peace with God.”

It’s not the explanation that he’s not sick that has most fans interested but a piece of information regarding recording with Rubin.

“I share a window (curated as it is) into my crazy life,” he wrote.

“As an example, we are currently in the studio with Rick Rubin. But unless I show you a picture of Rick sitting Buddha-like at a mixing desk, you probably wouldn’t know that.”

Corgan has already confirmed that he’s recorded a solo album with Rubin but Smashing Pumpkins drummer Jimmy Chamberlin has also posted pictures of Rubin’s Malibu studio, suggesting a Pumpkins record is also in the works.

Corgan has been in the studio with both Chamberlin and James Iha. Chamerlin has said that we should expect a reunion record from the band this year.

Last week, bassist D’Arcy Wretzky confirmed that she will not be reuniting with the band because they have, “decided to go with a different bass player.”

Corgan and co are yet to officially confirm an album release or reunion shows but it’s starting to look very good for fans.
