Birds of Tokyo have shared a new single with us today. ‘Weekend’ is a fun, summery single from the band and it comes with a new music video too.
“We like to keep trying new things so it was great to have a crack at something so different,” explains Adam Spark, Birds Of Tokyo guitarist and producer of ‘Weekend’.
“After the year everyone’s had I think we all felt like making music that’s just kinda summery and light-hearted.”
‘Weekend’ was both written and recorded in the Eastern states, despite the Perth perspective on the track.
“The lyrics are pretty straightforward on this one,” says Kenny. “It’s very much written from a W.A. perspective. Obviously we’ve been lucky to avoid most of the hardships that people elsewhere have suffered so I didn’t want to make light of that but it feels like everyone around Australia has earned a weekend or two at the beach after this crazy year … a Covid safe weekend of course!”
The band was set to kick off their symphonic tour in June this year but were forced to reschedule, due to COVID-19. Find the new dates for the tour below.
