Black Rebel Motorcycle Club Say Harvest 2013 Cancelled

UPDATE: Harvest Festival 2013 has been officially cancelled. More details here.

One of the key ingredients in this year’s Harvest Festival, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, has taken to Facebook to inform fans that “Harvest Festival has been canceled” but they will still be making their way Down Under.

Telling their Australian fans that details for their Australian tour “will be announced shortly”, BRMC are the first band to confirm that they will be coming to Australia regardless of whether Harvest will go ahead or not.

It’s been common knowledge that the festival is on the rocks since promoter AJ Maddah’s public vent on the topic last week. There is no official word from Camp Harvest that the festival is indeed cancelled.

Over the weekend, Maddah revealed that the recently reformed Neutral Milk Hotel, a major drawcard for the festival, will still be coming down for a run of headlining shows if Harvest 2013 does not go ahead.

It was previously confirmed that Franz Ferdinand and Goldfrapp will also have their own Australian dates in lieu of festival appearances. Massive Attack – who were set to feature Elizabeth Fraser as a guest during their Harvest set – and Volcano Choir are also being chased for headlining shows.

Maddah has stated his preference for a series of headlining tours over a stripped back Harvest, with the choice seemingly being made out of respect for the fans. “Without them and their support [more] events will die out,” he said.
