Kele Okereke has premiered a new song called God Has A Way, joining Rudimental and Disclosure in the revival of the UK garage scene. The frontman of London alternative dance-rock group Bloc Party had his first shot at solo work with 2010’s The Boxer, and he now has a four-track EP titled Heartbreaker set for release in early December.
Speaking with Rolling Stone, Okereke said, “I’ve always loved the inclusive and spiritual nature of house music.” God Has A Way, which you can listen to below, has a very strong house influence, and provides a glimpse of what his upcoming material will sound like. Okereke will take over production duties this time around – Boxer was produced by XXXchange.
God Has A Way features the vocal talents of Darryl Rich, whom Okereke met during Bloc Party’s US tour earlier this year. “He was driving us from city to city, we got to talking and he told me he was a gospel singer,” Okereke notes. “One night as we drove he played me some original music he was working on and I was blown away. I knew there and then that I had to use his voice on something I was working on.”
