Blondie will be touring Australia this December to coincide with their headline show at this year’s Homebake Festival in Sydney. Blondie will be joined by our own Aussie rock legends The Saints and The Stranglers, who are currently the longest-surviving and most “continuously successful” band to have originated in the UK punk scene.
Homebake festivalgoers were quick to cause a stir about Blondie’s inclusion on this year’s lineup. Traditionally an Aussie music lineup, the New York new wave pioneers were probably not the first band you would have thought would be the choice to finally break the festival’s staunch policy on just displaying Australian homegrown talent.
We recently spoke to guitarist Chris Stein, who knows it’ll be a tough gig to play, but he has assured that they’ll do a good show and blend in quite nicely with other acts such as Kimbra, Something for Kate, San Cisco, Emma Louise, and Tim Rogers, to name a few. We might also hear “one or two new ones”, but of course everyone always wants to hear the hits.
