The Blue Mountains Music Festival is set to make its return in 2014, bringing the 19th instalment of the festival to the grounds of Katoomba Public School, where over eight stages, punters will be delighted by the sounds of Lior, Xavier Rudd, Ash Grunwald, and more!
Taking place in the scenic and evocative mountain site of Katoomba, the three-day event, which runs from 14th-16th March, brings together some of Australia and the world’s foremost folk, roots, indie, and blues acts for what is one the year’s most highly-anticipated roots festivals.
Headlining the festival in 2014 will be a trio of fine Australian talent that kicks off with Lior, who’s just finished a season at the Sydney Opera House, where he was busy bringing the work of composer Nigel Westlake “into a new dimension.”
Meanwhile, Xavier Rudd has risen to become one of Australia’s foremost voices in roots music. With his characteristic one-man-band set-up seeing Rudd surrounded by guitars, didgeridoos, and stomp boxes as Rudd delivers audiences a positive message of social conscience.
Rounding out the top of the bill is the mighty Ash Grunwald, who creates a unique style of Delta-style blues music that is suffused with experimental hip-hop influences, putting him at the forefront of original blues music in Australia and making him one of the country’s most dynamic performers.
Joining them will be Eric Bogle and Eleanor McEvoy, who’ll be returning to the festival by popular request, as well as London-based singer-songwriter Rory McLeod, China’s Hanggai, Peter Rowan, Slava and Leonard Grigoryan, The Good Lovelies, Blair Dunlop, and many more.
Earlybird tickets for the 2014 Blue Mountains Music Festival go on sale on Friday, 15th November. The festival kicks off on the third weekend of March in 2014. For full ticket information (at last year’s prices), readers can head on over to the official BMFF website.
