Byron Bay Bluesfest 2015 continues to expand, adding 14 new acts to their lineup in a third announcement. Next year’s Easter long weekend event now includes The Gipsy Kings, who will be in Australia as part of their 25th anniversary world tour, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, a reunited Jurassic 5 and blues legend John Mayall.
Festival organisers have also announced Michael Franti‘s Soulshine. With Michael Franti & Spearhead already on the lineup, Soulshine is a concert featuring Franti and Spearhead plus SOJA and Trevor Hall. They’ll also be a pre-concert yoga session accompanied by Franti and some of his mates.
Bluesfest director Peter Noble says the third lineup adds some musical diversity to the primarily blues and roots event, with the latest group of acts covering hip hop, swamp rock, gypsy flamenco rhythms, and some southern rock and soul.
These latest additions to the bill join the second wave of Bluesfest 2015 acts, which included Ben Harper and his reformed backing band The Innocent Criminals. Others artists already on the lineup include The Black Keys, Paolo Nutini, Gary Clark Jr, Alabama Shakes, and Ben Howard.
Bluesfest 2015 takes place at Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm near Byron Bay. The festival runs for five days from Thursday, 2nd April to Monday, 6th April. Keep an eye on Music Feeds as more acts are announced, according to Nobel we’re only about halfway through. Full lineup and festivals details below.
