Blur Back Catalog Remastered

Producer Stephen Street told Louder Than War during a recent interview that he is currently involved in remastering the back catalogue of English rock/pop band Blur.

Having produced records such as Blur’s Parklife and The Great Escape – as well as some of the bands biggest singles, Street said he was excited to be working on the old material again

“It’s been great, the way things were mastered in the late 80s, early 90s – and I’m experiencing this with Blur as I’m currently remastering their entire back catalogue… It’s just great to listen to the tapes and think that now they sound so much better. They sound fuller, and wider, and I’m really pleased to be focusing on it. I’m really chuffed as a producer how it’s sounding”

However, when asked about working on new Blur material Street said he was doubtful he’ll get the chance.

“I’ve not been approached about a new record and I doubt I will be, I don’t think we should assume that they’ll make an album, I got the impression that they don’t want the pressure of having to make a new record. Obviously I would love to be asked to produce them again”

As for the band itself, Consequence of Sound have confirmed that Blur will be performing during the closing ceremonies at this year’s London Olypmics as well as playing at Sweden’s Way Out West Festival in August.

Indeed, it seems all is bright with Blur again. Earlier this month the band received the Outstanding Contribution To Music award at the Brit Awards and according to NME, Damon Albarn and guitarist Graham Coxon have settled many of their previous issues.

“Me and Graham have less [issues] than we’ve ever had. We live very independent lives right now, so we’re not on top of each other. It wouldn’t be working otherwise, and I don’t think that either of us could be bothered with that,” Albarn said.

There is no current news on when the remasters will be released…
