Blur will play more shows in 2013, and Belgium’s biggest festival – Rock Werchter – have got the first bragging rights. The Britpop icons will headline Rock Werchter 2013, which takes place from July 4-7 and caters for up to 140,000 punters. They confirmed the news on their Facebook page overnight.
“Thank you for waiting”…”Rock Werchter is about to announce that Blur will headline next July. We’re excited…hope to travel in 2013 to play to more of our lovely fans who we haven’t seen for a while. Don’t know where yet, we’ll tell as soon as we do.”
German metal titans Rammstein are the only act confirmed for the festival thus far.
It’s unsure whether Blur will play any new material at their shows next year, or if they’ll be recording some more tunes in the not-too-distant future.
The band penned two new tracks – Under the Westway and The Puritan – for their shows at Hyde Park earlier this year. Producer William Orbit told NME earlier this year that the band had been in the studio working on new material with him.
