There’s a musical featuring a whole bunch of Bob Dylan‘s music coming to Australia in 2022. Girl From The North Country is set to debut in January as part of the next Sydney Festival.
The musical, which has already made its way to West End and Broadway, is set to debut here at the newly-refurbished Theatre Royal in Sydney. It first debuted at London’s Old Vic in 2017.
“Our journey from The Old Vic in London to the West End in London and onto Broadway has been monumental, and now as part of the reopening in Sydney of the Theatre Royal,” said writer and director Conor McPherson.
“We have managed to find an incredible Australian cast and we can’t wait to bring this magical production to life.”
The musical itself is set during the Great Depression, with the story centring on residents at a rundown Minnesotan guesthouse. A preacher and a boxer’s arrival to the inn is the catalyst for the plot.
Some of the Aussie actor’s featured includes Lisa McCune, Zahra Newman, Terence Crawford, Peter Carroll and Helen Dallimore, with more to be confirmed.
This will be the second musical to use Dylan’s music, after Twyla Tharp’s The Times They Are A Changin’ from 2006.
Tickets go on sale this Tuesday, 5th October. Grab them via the musical’s official website.
