After scoring a gig hosting Channel Ten’s The Project at the end of last year, Waleed Aly has quickly established himself as one of the most charismatic and intelligent voices on Australian TV, offering insightful commentary on some of the nation’s most controversial topics.
Since The Project posted the clip online, it’s racked up an insane 28 million Facebook views, made headlines worldwide and was nominated for a Walkley, Australia’s most prestigious journalism award.

But not only is Waleed a swashbuckler of social issues, a Walkley-nominated wordsmith and a viral internet sensation, he's also a bloody good musician.
Waleed plays in a band called Robot Child, and even though he didn't win the Walkley for his rousing speech against the Islamic State, he and his band still stole the show.
They busted out a cover of Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb, complete with a dead-on guitar solo from Waleed.
The journalists who weren't too busy mumbling something about how they could have done that too if they'd really wanted to, posted plenty of praise for Waleed's work on social media.
