Brandon Flowers has suggested that his band The Killers could very well be the best musical group of the 21st century, despite previously saying the band’s 2012 album Battle Born “wasn’t good enough”.
In a recent interview with The Independent, Flowers made it clear that despite his various solo projects, his faith in The Killers remains as strong as ever.
“Whether the people want to accept it or not, we might be the best band in the last long time,” Flowers said. “I’d go up any night against just about any band that’s come out in the last 15 years.
“Not that it’s a competition, but I do feel sometimes people don’t have a grasp on what we’ve accomplished and what we’ve acquired. Everyone should come see The Killers! We’re more than just a new wave revival thing.”
Given that The Killers’ popularity has petered off since the days of Hot Fuss and Sam’s Town, Flowers’ words are pretty bold.
In the interview, the singer didn’t mention who else might be in the running for best band/artist of the 21st century, but we know, at least in Flowers’ mind, that Kanye West isn’t one of them.
Elsewhere in his chat with The Independent, Flowers also revealed he has been collecting his own facial hair in a bag for the past seven years, for some reason. If, like us, you’re wondering how he could put that hair to good use, here are six uses for Brandon Flowers’ collected beard hair.
Flowers’ second solo album, The Desired Effect, is released today.
