Brass Against Explain After Singer Urinates On Fan’s Face During Set

You might know Brass Against from their horn-heavy covers of songs by the likes of Tool, Danzig and many more. But over the weekend the band garnered attention for a very different reason.

The collective performed at the Welcome to Rockville festival at Daytona International Speedyway in Daytona on Friday, 12th November. While in the middle of a cover of Rage Against the Machine‘s ‘Wake Up’, lead singer Sophia Urista invited a fan up onstage before proceeding to urinate on his face as the rendition continued.

“We had a great time last night at Welcome to Rockville. Sophia got carried away,” the band wrote on Twitter the following day. That’s not something the rest of us expected, and it’s not something you’ll see again at our shows. Thanks for bringing it last night, Daytona.”

It isn’t totally clear what the motivation behind the stunt was, but it appears to have been premeditated and consensual. Replying to a user on Twitter who asked if the stage guest knew what was going to go down, the band replied, “Yes. Several comments made about peeing prior to it actually happening. Invited to stage.” Urista even cleaned up afterwards herself after the band’s set.

All’s well that ends well, it seems? Despite the band’s apology, many have praised Urista’s onstage antics for being, well, kind of bass. Nevertheless, it doesn’t look like watersports are set to become a regular part of the band’s upcoming live sets, which include a tour supporting Tool in Europe.
