BREAKING: Audience Member Lights Flare, Disfigures Girl At Soundwave 2013

This is so upsetting. A member of the audience at Soundwave 2013 in Sydney has smuggled in a magnesium flare, ignited it in the middle of the crowd during a performance on a main stage (some say Metallica on Stage 1, others say Bring Me The Horizon on Stage 3) and “seriously burned and disfigured” a young girl in the crowd, according to promoter AJ Maddah.

As expected, AJ has launched an all-out assault on this idiot, calling for blood. “Dear piece of shit who lit the flare in BMTH pit: Tonight you seriously burned and disfigured a young girl. I hope you fucking get yours,” he tweets. Twitter user @DanielTome tweeted, “Some idiot just lighted a flare during Metallica #soundwave he got hosed down.” Instagram user stereodan got a shot of the fire in the crowd at the main stage – it looks enormous, and one wonders how more people weren’t injured.

Maddah is calling for action from Soundwave attendees: “If anyone can correctly identify this son of a bitch I will shower you with so much tickets, backstage and cash you wont know what to do.” He also asks those who see anyone with a lit flare to take a photo and pass it on to him so he can give it to the authorities.

At this stage, there is no news on the condition of the girl, other than that she has been “seriously burned and disfigured” with a “massive, awful burn on her forearm”.

AJ is already tweeting he has “multiple angles” of the alleged perpetrator. Keep them coming!

UPDATE: 10:56pm

Reports are unclear at this stage but it seems that there were TWO flares lit tonight at Soundwave Sydney, one during the Metallica set (as snapped by @danieltome) and one during the Bring Me The Horizon set. Currently, the timeline of reports suggests that the injury to the young girl happened during the Metallica set, but this information is still unclear. Meanwhile, Bring Me The Horizon have posted two images of the flare as it was lit and thrown, one of which appears to have been taken from the stage (in gallery below).

Update: 11:26pm

Photos confirm there were two separate incidents tonight, with at least three flares ignited during both Metallica and Bring Me The Horizon. The first and last picture below are reportedly from Metallica. Pictures 2, 3 and 4 are from Bring Me The Horizon. If you recognize anybody in these pictures, notify AJ Maddah.

Update: 25/02/13

Footage has emerged of a blaze caused by the second flare thrown during the Bring Me The Horizon set. As noted by YouTube user metalmetalable this is not the same flare that caused injury to the as-yet unidentified girl.
