Briggs Is Throwing A ‘Reclaim Australia Day’ Party With His Label

Rapper Briggs has announced that his label Bad Apples and fellow label House Of Beige will be throwing a ‘Reclaim Australia Day’ party three days after Australia day.

The party will go down this weekend in Melbourne at Section 8 with DJ sets from both Bad Apples and House Of Beige.

Briggs is a very strong force in the argument to change the date of Australia Day and this party sets an alternate date for those to celebrate the country without doing so on a day that’s a day of mourning for Indigenous Australians.

A.B. Original, the duo comprising of Briggs and good mate Trials, are contenders to take out the Hottest 100 with January 26, a song that pretty clearly lays out the reasons why we should change the date.

They also dropped one of 2016’s best and most politically-driven records Reclaim Australia which this party shares a name, in part, with.

There’s a campaign to get ‘January 26’ to the top of triple j‘s Hottest 100 countdown which would also act as a protest for triple j to change the date of their countdown.
