Bring Me The Horizon Explain Why They Destroyed Coldplay’s Table At NME Awards

After gloriously smashing Coldplay‘s table at the NME Awards earlier this week, Bring Me The Horizon have explained the incident, which they say wasn’t “a protest against Coldplay” at all.

The incident in question saw Bring Me The Horizon frontman Oli Sykes jump on Coldplay’s table at this year’s NME Awards while his band performed Happy Song, before kicking over glasses and bottles and generally causing all kinds of havoc right in front of Chris Martin and company.

Speaking to NME following the performance, Sykes said, “I had no sound in my ears so I thought, ‘Well, there might be sound out there.’ There weren’t sound out there so when I came back there was a table, which I got on. There wasn’t any sound on there, but it was a bit more energetic up there. It was in no way a protest against Coldplay.”

Bring Me The Horizon keyboardist Jordan Fish backed up the frontman, saying, “I don’t think [Oli] was aiming for Coldplay. It was just whoever was nearest, it [just] happened to be Coldplay.”

Chris Martin said he hadn’t heard of Bring Me The Horizon before their “very rock’n’roll” performance at the NME Awards, but we’re pretty sure the band will now be forever burned into his memory. Catch footage and photos of Sykes’ shenanigans, below.

Bring Me The Horizon are bringing their That’s The Spirit album tour to Australia this September for a run of headline shows.
