Brisbane’s Crowbar And The Brightside Are Set To Merge Into One Venue

Two of Brisbane’s homes for heavy tunes will merge into one in the new year. As The Music reports, The Brightside and Crowbar will become one venue, keeping The Brighty’s address.

The inside Brightside venue will become Crowbar, and the outside stage/carpark known as The Valley Drive In will be rebranded to The Brightside.

Speaking to The Music, Crowbar’s General Manager, Tyla Dombroski said, “We’ve built great relationships having worked alongside each other in many different capacities over the years.”

“We all realise what values we have to bring to the table to help grow the scenes and industry we are a part of and working together towards those goals is only going to make them achievable in a bigger and faster capacity. We can’t wait to start this new chapter with The Brightside team.”

“We’ve long been friends with the Crowbar crew and we admire what they have built in the Crowbar brand across the country,” said The Brightside’s Jesse Barbera.

“Their brand-building ability, marketing sense, and amazing relationships are some of the best in Australia. This merger of like-minded independent music businesses will provide a really bright future for Brisbane and eventually Australia’s music community. We couldn’t be happier with this partnership.”

The Brightside will undergo renovations leading up to the merge and relaunch. Crowbar will close with a show from Comeback Kid on Saturday, 4th January. The Brightside will be celebrating five years with a closing party on Saturday, 28th December and Taking Back Saturday club night on New Year’s Eve.

Despite playing home to Brisbane’s emo scene, The Brightside has hosted a variety of artists. Among shows like Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Trophy Eyes, and Neck Deep, artists like Kite String Tangle have also taken the Brightside stage.

Crowbar has had such a huge impact in Brisbane’s heavy scene, with its basement being a go-to for up and coming artists. Artists like WAAX, Slowly Slowly, Ceres, and Violent Soho have all taken the Crowbar stage.
