After an unforch permit-forced one year siesta, Brisbane weekend musical festival Red Deer is gearing up for an epic return this year and has today unleashed its impressive 2015 lineup.
After difficulties with the local council in 2014, Red Deer is back with one hell of a splash, with headliners Frenzal Rhomb, Andy Bull and kiwis Salmonella Dub Soundsytem set to bring the ruckus and ensure you don’t even remember the festival’s sneaky absence.
Elsewhere on the first lineup announcement are Queensland locals Hey Geronimo, Ayla, Mosman Alder, WAAX and Cheap Fakes who will be waving the tropical state’s flag with pride at the alternating Ed Hope and Mucho Bravado Ampitheatre stages.
In 2015 the five-year-old festival continues to be BYO couches and booze (no glass) and maintains its focus on chill vibes and good times with a newly added Jungle Bar and chill out space on the hill where “specialty jungle themed drinks with alcohol are on sale on site for the first time ever.”
Northside arts company Party Artworks are also back to put the “arts” in “music and arts festival” with a series of workshops for those who want to get their hands dirty. There’s alsoe something called the Flight or Flop frisbee tournament for those who want to nail some tight disc grabs as well as a promised “hotly contested” ping pong tourney. Yes please.
