Britney Spears has inked a book deal with the publishing company Simon & Schuster. People confirmed the deal is worth $15 million (USD).
Spears is said to be working on a tell all memoir, which is expected to cover the events of her famous childhood, teen stardom, troubled 20s and 13 year conservatorship, which came to an end in November 2021.
Spears is now 40 years old and has been in the public eye since joining the cast of The Mickey Mouse Club in 1992, alongside Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Ryan Gosling and Keri Russell.
Spears’ major breakthrough came with her debut single, ‘…Baby One More Time’, in September 1998, which topped the charts all around the world. Spears has released a total of nine studio albums and sold over 100 million records worldwide. In December, she teased new music.
In recent months, Spears has been pressured by her father to foot the bill for the lawyers representing him “in proceedings concerning Jamie’s ongoing fiduciary duties relating to winding up” the conservatorship.
Through her lawyer, Mathew S. Rosengart, Britney filed a cease and desist order against her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, directing the latter to refrain “from referencing Britney derogatorily during [the] promotional campaign” for Jamie Lynn’s memoir, Things I Should Have Said.
Spears is expected to sit down for an interview with Oprah in coming months.
