Britney Spears request to remove her father, Jamie Spears, from her conservatorship has been denied for a third time.
Her bid to remove him from as co-conservator was submitted a month ago by her attorney, Samuel Ingham III, and according to court documents obtained by E! News, her request was denied by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge on Wednesday, 30th June,
Jamie Spears was named as co-conservator of Britney’s estate and person in 2008. In addition, wealth-management firm Bessemer Trust Company came on board as co-conservator of her estate in 2020.
“The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California, N.A. as sole conservator of estate is denied without prejudice,” the document read.
As pointed out by Variety however, this court decision was not made as a result of Britney’s impassioned testimony that she gave to a court over a week ago. The publication pointed out that the judge cannot make a ruling based on her testimony until Britney has filed a petition specifically asking the court to terminate her conservatorship.
In her testimony last week, she demanded for an end to her “abusive” conservatorship, and made a few shocking revelations, including that her team would not allow for her to get her IUD removed by a health professional, impeding her from having another child.
In the days following her testimony, persons close to Britney have lent their support to the popstar, including her long-time friend Christina Aguilera who said that it “is unacceptable that any woman, or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny might not be allowed to live life as they wish.”
Britney’s ex-husband Kevin Federline also spoke out in support of her in a statement delivered through his attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan.
Kaplan read that Federline “respects Britney and only hopes the best for her because when the best for her is achieved, it’s the best for their kids. The kids love their mother and he wants there to be a healthy and strong relationship.”
