Unlikely duo Bruce Springsteen and Barack Obama have today announced that they’re teaming up for a new podcast, titled Renegades: Born In The USA.
The podcast will showcase a series of one-on-one discussions between Springsteen and Obama, recorded from July through December of last year, that go through life in America as it stands.
“In our own ways, Bruce and I have been on parallel journeys,” Obama says in the first episode, availably on Spotify now.
“We still share a fundamental belief in the American ideal. Not as an airbrushed, cheap fiction or an act of nostalgia that ignores all the ways that we’ve fallen short of that ideal. But as a compass for the hard work that lies before each of us as citizens.”
The duo have been friends for over a decade now, after Springsteen joined Obama on his presidential campaign trail back in 2008. As Obama was leaving office in early 2017, Springsteen delivered an intimate performance at the White House.
