BENEE is gunning to keep her winning streak going in 2020 despite…everything, and now she’s dropped a new single, ‘Snail’.
The song, made during BENEE’s time in lockdown in New Zealand, was written about her fascination with snails. Go figure.
“When we were in lockdown, I was fascinated by snails,” BENEE said in a press statement.
“There wasn’t really a lot to be doing, so I would spend a lot of time outside looking at snails and would think about how they’re doing their own little thing and they’re all free.
“I just played around with the idea of being kind of like a snail and how I come out in the rain. Being stuck inside because of COVID, it’s kind of my lockdown song.”
Of course, New Zealand are famously no longer in lockdown as the country recently celebrated 100 days without community transition of the virus.
The release of ‘Snails’ follows BENEE’s all-star link-up with Kenny Beats and Bakar for her previous single ‘Night Garden’.
Pending Australia being able to go without community transmission in the near future, BENEE will be headed across the Tasman to headline Yours & Owls Festival in Wollongong alongside Tones And I early next year.
