Chris Cornell Announces New Solo Album ‘Higher Truth’

Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell‘s fourth solo album, Higher Truth, will be released this September, just in time for his tour of Australia.

As Rolling Stone reports, Cornell’s new solo offering is being produced by Brendan O’Brien, who helped mix Soundgarden’s album Superunknown and has worked with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Pearl Jam and Neil Young.

Higher Truth follows Cornell’s 2009 solo release Scream, which dabbled in pop rock and more electronic sounds and 2011’s Songbook, which featured stripped-back, live acoustic interpretations of some of his biggest tracks. Cornell’s previous solo releases also include 1999’s Euphoria Morning and 2007’s Carry On.

Following the album’s US release on 18th September, Cornell will tour Australia during November and December, playing acoustically and no doubt sharing some of his new tracks with fans across the country. The tour includes two Sydney Opera House dates.

Soundgarden performed at this year’s Soundwave Festival, and said they would begin work on their next album following the Soundwave tour.
