Channelling Cher and her game-changing contralto sound is no easy feat, yet somehow Chvrches‘ Lauren Mayberry has managed.
The Scottish frontwoman sang a short rendition of Cher’s 1998 Grammy-winning track Believe while backstage at James Corden’s Late Late Show last month, all of which was luckily caught on film and has just emerged for our viewing pleasure.
This wasn’t the first time Mayberry had pulled out a Cher impersonation, though, explaining that she’d taken on the challenge during karaoke at one of fellow bandmate Iain Cook’s birthdays.
“I can’t tell if my Cher was actually really good or whether we were just a wee bit smashed,” Mayberry explained, before being egged on for an encore by Iain and Martin Doherty.
As you will be able to tell in the video below, she clearly doesn’t need booze to nail Cher’s sound.
