Aussie rock icons Cold Chisel have well and truly returned, premiering new single ‘Getting the Band Back Together’ this morning.
Written by the band’s primary songwriter Don Walker, it’s a cheeky take on the concept of a band reuniting to play shows – as in, exactly what Barnesy and the boys will do this summer on their upcoming national tour.
Produced by long-time producer Kevin Shirley, ‘Getting the Band Back Together’ follows in the tradition of Chisel classics like ‘Bow River’ and ‘Saturday Night’, with Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss trading lead vocal lines.
In addition to the new song comes the news that the band’s ninth studio album Blood Moon is scheduled for release Friday, 6th December. It’ll be the their first since 2015’s The Perfect Crime.
“‘Getting the Band Back Together’ seemed like the right sentiment to accompany the tour, but the album itself has a lot of songs that are darker than that, and a few quieter ones too,” commented Walker on the new record.
“It’s great to still be making music new music and finding new ways to do it after all these years.”
