Australian metalcore outfit Confession are hitting the road again this October in support of their new record, Life And Death. Vocalist Michael Crafter will lead his band for 10 raucous shows across the east coast.
Since their formation in 2008, Confession have endured a long and storied trajectory. Their third studio album, Life And Death, cracked the Australian charts when it was released earlier this year, its themes fuelled by the last two tumultuous and emotional years in Crafter’s life.
Earlier this year, Crafter defended his band’s use of posters advertising the band’s single, Fuck Cancer. “It’s making an impact, it’s making a statement,” said Crafter. “These people are seeing it everyday for the next few days or weeks, and yeah, they may be a bit offended, but they may look at the band, have a look at the film clip, and they’ll read the lyrics and they’ll read about what I’m talking about.”
Confession will be joined on the road by Gold Coast progressive metalcore act Prepared Like A Bride and Wollogong outfit Graves. Earlier this year, AJ Maddah confirmed Confession for Soundwave 2015 alongside Melbourne progressive metal act Ne Obliviscaris. The full Soundwave 2015 lineup announcement is set to land in August.
UPDATE 07/10/14: Confession have cancelled their appearances on the upcoming Life And Death Tour. The dates will go ahead with just the support acts, Prepared Like A Bride and Graves, honouring all dates as part of what has been relabelled The Ocean Tide Tour – see details below.
“It is with regret that Confession have to cancel their Life And Death Tour scheduled to begin next week,” reads a statement from the band. “The band’s vocalist, Michael Crafter has taken leave to be with his family who are rallying behind his sick father.”
“Sorry to all our fans and friends for us having to cancel our tour, it’s a time I need to be with my family and support them in every way I can,” writes Crafter in a personal statement. “We will be sorting out new dates in the near future. Sorry again and I say this with every bit of energy I have left, fuck cancer.”
The band have confirmed that they will make their scheduled appearance at the upcoming Fight To Survive Festival on Saturday, 18th October, but that is all. Refunds for Life And Death Tour dates are available from the place of purchase, though fans are urged to come out and support Prepared Like a Bride and Graves. Destroy All Lines will be donating 100% of their promoter profit to the Cancer Council.
