Corey Taylor Honours Scott Weiland With Cover Of Stone Temple Pilots’ ‘Sex Type Thing’

Slipknot and Stone Sour frontman Corey Taylor has used a performance with “all-star covers fun-times band” Royal Machines to pay tribute to the late Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland, who died almost a week ago, aged 48.

As Blabbermouth reports, Taylor joined Royal Machines for a cover of Sex Type Thing on Monday night, 7th December, at The Roxy in West Hollywood.

Fan-shot footage of Taylor’s appearance has surfaced online (below), along with his rendition of The Cult’s Love Removal Machine.

Weiland was found dead on his tour bus last Thursday, 3rd December. His dead is reportedly the result of cardiac arrest, but an official report is yet to be released.

Police who searched Weiland’s tour bus reportedly found a small amount of cocaine in the room where his body was found, and Weiland’s Wildabouts bandmate Tommy Black was arrested and charged with fifth degree felony drug possession.

Since Weiland’s death, fellow musicians like Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan and former Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell have also shared heartfelt tributes to Weiland. Watch Taylor’s tribute in full, below.
