Well, shit a dick. Ten years flies by so fast. Can you believe it’s been a bloody decade since old m8 Corey Worthington chucked the nation’s most infamous rager in Melbourne while his ‘rents were out of town, with 500 rowdy punters rocking up and rampaging through the neighbourhood after homeboy plugged the bash on MySpace?
Ah, memories.
Well, flash-forward to now and it seems Australia’s most notorious (former) teenager could be throwing a brand new bash to commemorate that fateful night in January 2008 that saw the sandy-haired little f*cker & his iconic yellow sunnies given a verbal spanking on A Current Affair in the interview that would spawn some of the internet’s dankest memes.
A Facebook event dubbed “Corey’s Party: 10 Year Reunion” has emerged online, and so far an insane 30,000 punters have RSVP’d as either “attending” or “interested”.
Set to go down at a TBD location at the scene of the OG crime in Narre Warren, the event organisers have reportedly “locked in some big names from that era that have stood the test of time; Operator Please, The Potbelleez, Sam Sparro, Gabriella Cilmi” to perform at the event, while “DJs will be spinning the Ministry of Sound 2008 annual (loads more TBA)”.
Now, the whole thing could easily be a giant troll (especially considering it’s been created by a page dubbed “I Saw A UFO And Nobody Believes Meme”), but please note that Corey has shared the event himself via his official Facebook page along with the call to arms: “Who is ready to party???!!!???”
Maaaaaaaaaaaaate.
The official Facebook event description reads:
“As I’m sure you’re well aware, we’re approaching 10 years since that rager at Corey’s place. Thought we could all reunite for a little catch up, 10 years on!
Would love to see how we all are, so feel free to bring your partner and/or kids along. It’ll be BYO again and if you could each bring a plate of something as well that would be fantastic.
Still sorting out entertainment for the night, at the moment we’ve locked in some big names from that era that have stood the test of time; Operator Please, The Potbelleez, Sam Sparro, Gabriella Cilmi and DJs will be spinning the Ministry of Sound 2008 annual (loads more TBA).
In regards to location, we’re still waiting on confirmation from Corey that this is actually happening, but it’ll be somewhere in Narre Warren again.”
Music Feeds has reached out to Corey and a bunch of the bands listed on the lineup to see if this whole thing is indeed legit. It’s probably not. But we can dream.
