Courtney Barnett has taken home a massive four wins at The Age Victoria Music Awards, celebrating the best music to come out of the state this year.
Barnett picked up Best Album for her debut Sometimes I Sit And Think and, Sometimes I Just Sit while she also nabbed Best Song for Depreston. She beat herself to the latter prize with her track Pedestrian At Best also nominated and on top of that she also won Best Female Artist and Best Band which is impressive given she’s widely regarded as a solo artist.
It’s been a massive 12 months for Barnett who has also been nominated for a record eight ARIA Awards due to be awarded this month.
Barnett wasn’t the only one to take home prizes with blues ‘n roots man C.W. Stoneking picking up Best Male Artist and local favourites The Smith Street Band taking the Best Live Act award.
The Age also reckon that Golden Plains is the best festival in the state awarding it with the title over tough competition including Laneway Festival and Sugar Mountain.
This is the tenth year these awards have been held and the occasion was marked with a host of performances by Barnett herself, young gun Harts and kiwi crooner Marlon Williams.
