Courtney Love At War With Landlord

It would seem that tenancy disputes can now be added to the long list of troubles Courtney Love has had to deal with over the course of her life, joining substance abuse, media frenzies and loosing her meal ticket, I mean husband. The current problem see’s Love locking horns with landlord Donna Lyon who is trying to have the Hole singer evicted from her NYC Townhouse claiming the star owes her over $50,000 in unpaid rent, a claim Love denies. This is, however, all a bit rich considering that she’s been running a fraud operation out of the house chasing down the ‘lost Nirvana money,’ but you can make your own mind up about that one.

Anyway, another issue between Love and Lyon is that Love has redecorated the house without permission, a claim Love also disputes, instead claiming she’s only making use of a clause in the rental contract that allows her to change the interior of the house, provided she returns the place to its original state upon leaving the property.

Love whipped up a blog post at XOJane, writing: “I moved into this home only on the condition that I could paint it and when I leave, I’d restore it to exactly what it was. Since I darkened the door, she (the owner) has been vicious to me and my staff. Having a landlady tell you your Prelle, $2,000-a-yard fabric, is ‘destructive’ is totally weird. My taste is artful and femme, but it’s excellent. I’m 47, have bought and sold 14 houses … and love doing them nicely and tripling the price; it’s just never been a question, so this whole experience is weird as heck.”

She has also accused Lyon of being mentally abusive, writing that “Donna Lyon, the owner, came over the other day and, after informing me that ‘No one likes you, Courtney Love, NO ONE,’ which made me cry, and proceeded to knock over a photo (she’s rather … large) of me with Dame Elizabeth Taylor, and shatter the mirrored frame.”
