Never one to pay attention to raised eyebrows, regardless of their elevation, Courtney Love has followed her recent tirade against Bruce Springsteen and sax in rock music — “Saxophones don’t belong in rock and roll” — by taking a backhanded swipe at California’s Queens of the Stone Age.
In a recent interview with The Quietus, Love was asked about her songwriting process and the singer took the opportunity to have a dig at the desert rock veterans, explaining that while she doesn’t think they “suck” per se, she believes they have a lower bar for what they release to fans.
“Well, you sit and you write like, Queens Of The Stone Age drudge for a month, and it’s just not happening, and it’s not happening – not that Queens Of The Stone Age suck, but people expect a lot more from me. Josh Homme can play like, four notes on his bass and people take off their tops.”
“But I have a higher bar for whatever reason,” added the former Hole frontwoman. “It has to be just f-cking really really good.” Last time we checked, Courtney, Queens of the Stone Age’s last album was arguably the best of their career, and they just completed an epic tour with Nine Inch Nails.
With a new song and tour coming up, it’s only natural that Love is back to ruffling feathers, a sport in which she as an Olympic-level competitor, recently proven when she recounted being taken to a Bruce Springsteen show and making it through “an hour and a half in a three-and-a-half hour show.”
