We hear plenty of music industry rumours here at the Music Feeds offices, but the ones that really grab our attention often come accidentally from official sources.
A few months back the Falls Festival line-up was discovered by an enterprising music fan (parked innocently in a publicly shared folder on their website) weeks before it was officially announced to the public. That particular nugget of industry gossip proved to completely accurate.
With that in mind, we’ve got a pretty good feeling that this news, published momentarily on the Jmag website and documented by Aussie news site Crikey, is legit. SPOILER ALERT here for all those wishing to be surprised on Australia day when the official countdown ends (btw Edward turns Bella into a vampire in the last Twilight novel, Breaking Dawn, after she nearly dies while giving birth to their daughter Renesmee… that’s one ending I have no problem ruining for absolutely anyone interested).
Crikey reports that online promotional material for the February issue of Jmag lists Mumford and Sons’ ‘Little Lion Man’ as the top of the charts this year. Triple J quickly pulled any mention of the news from their website, and there’s been some speculation floating around as to whether or not this claim is legitimate, but given that voting has already finished for the yearly poll, we’re fairly certain that posting is accurate. It seems some web guy at Triple J needs a stern talking to.
UPDATE: The complete list of songs can be found here.
So there you go… Stay tuned next week when we reveal the line-up for BDO 2011 (that one’s a joke people! – Ed.)
