D.D Dumbo, Julia Jacklin & King Gizzard Lead 2016 J Award Nominees

It’s that time of year again, the time when triple j sift back through the artists who’ve been on their rotation of over the past year, and give us the best of the best.

The 12th annual J Awards take place in the station’s Ausmusic month, celebrating everything Australian music, and in 2016 the awards have been dominated by D.D Dumbo, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, who are all up for multiple gongs.

In the all important Album Of The Year category, Jacklin and D. D Dumbo are joined by The Avalanches, Flume, Montaigne, Sticky Fingers, SAFIA, Violent Soho, Camp Cope, and Big Scary.

Unearthed Artist Of The Year will be hotly contested once again, with Alex Lahey, Gretta Ray, Jacklin, Tash Sultana and Kuren rounding out the nominees.

There are also awards set to go to the Double J Artist Of The Year and Australian Music Video Of The Year, and you can check out the full list of nominations below.

Last year’s winners included Courtney Barnett who took out Album Of The Year and Tired Lion who snagged Unearthed Artist Of The Year, while Tim Rogers won the Double J Artist award and Life Is Better Blonde took out the music video category.

This year’s winners will be announced at 4pm AEDT on Thursday, 17th November at the J Awards, which will also be broadcast live on triple j.
